Disaster Doc and Intrepid Traveler

The CA Scotch Couple are truly lucky individuals. While their work often interferes with valuable play time, they are privileged in that it brings them into contact with some pretty amazing individuals. After a recent trip to London, complete with whisky and chocolate experiences, two of these remarkable individuals have fast become friends. 

Disaster Doc earned his moniker because of his expertise in pandemic and emergency planning. He was on the front lines during the SARS crisis in Toronto, racing to figure out what the virus was and how to contain it, and watching patients die and colleagues fall ill. It was perhaps prescient that the CA Scotch Couple spent the first part of April in his company before returning home to a San Diego soon to be buzzing with news of the swine flu.

His partner, and every inch his equal, is a world traveler with a goal of visiting all of the UNESCO sites. His travels have allowed him glimpses into fantastic worlds and have darn near cost him his life on occasion. He has even had the privilege of being rescued by boy scouts. 

Both men are interesting and intellectually stimulating. They are also the most gracious hosts the CA Scotch Couple have ever met. Loyal Scotch Chix fans have already met Disaster Doc. He was the individual who arranged for their visit to Jamie Kennedy Wine Bar for poutines while they were in Toronto last winter. That Toronto trip should have given the CA Scotch Couple some indication Disaster Doc and Intrepid Traveler's skills as hosts.

The ability of Disaster Doc and Intrepid Traveler to read their guests and plan events to match their interests is something to be emulated. For example, while not originally whisky fans, they have gone out of their way to arrange whisky experiences. In addition, both men have allowed CA Scotch Chick to educate them regarding whisky. And while CA Scotch Chick was launching into the whisky education with her characteristic over-enthusiasm, Disaster Doc and Intrepid Traveler were subtly educating her on the nuances of wine. Their light touch and ability to read the CA Scotch Couple's palate and offer wine that fit is also something to be emulated.

Disaster Doc and Intrepid Traveler were in their true form during the CA Scotch Couple's April Trip. They had a panoply of pleasurable activities planned for the CA Scotch Couple, from an amazing whisky bar to two chocolate shops worth drooling over, and they led them on a fantastic romp of whisky, food and London sites.
