The Scots Are Reclaiming Virginia

The Scotch Chix would like to update our readers on the progress being made at the only Scottish made distillery in America producing whisky in the Scottish tradition, The Virginia Distillery Company.  As you may remember the Chix reviewed all three of the Eades double malts currently for sales by TVC last summer.  Recently the Chix received an email from Brendan O'Neill, Vice President of Investor Relations, on the progress the company has made this past year.

Below is an excerpt from that email:

Completed our team, with two world-renowned Scots – Jim McEwan and Harry Cockburn

Created and started selling Eades Double malt, our anticipation product

Selected the site for our location, begun development and erected our first building

Received key licenses and land use rulings

Purchased and imported a complete authentic Scottish distillery

As we enter 2009, we are setting our sights on several new milestones including building the distillery and putting VDC whisky in barrels. To realize these goals, we will (as planned) launch our second capital raise. Production is scheduled to begin by summer 2009 and to meet that schedule we will be starting our fundraising efforts almost immediately. Upon completion of this next funding, we expect to be able to complete the distillery and another warehouse, enabling us to put whisky in barrels, sell cask futures and conduct tours.

This is exciting news, especially for those in the DC area, as we will not have far to travel to tour an authentic Scottish Distillery. To stay up to date you can find out more at: http://www.eadeswhisky.com.
