Run! Dont Walk! — The Finale

Loyal Scotch Chix fans will remember that CA Scotch Chick set out on a futile quest for Kirkland Signature 18 Year Old Scotch from Macallan (Kirkland Macallan 18 for short) last summer. Despite a Wall Street Journal article to the contrary, this Independent Bottling simply was not to be found at any of her local Costco's. However, CA Scotch Chick did wonder if it would show up for the holidays, so the other day she made an excursion to see. Sure enough, there it was. She snatched it from the shelf and carted it home to CA Scotch Gent.

Now, CA Scotch Chick is not a big fan of the Original Bottling of the Macallan 18. CA Scotch Gent likes it well enough, but while CA Scotch Chick doesn't dislike it, and she will order it if it is the best option on a Scotch Menu, she doesn't seek it out, in part because she doesn't care for the taste of sherry in it. The Kirkland Macallan 18 was definitely a Macallan 18. All the tastes were there, and if one did a side by side comparison (which the CA Scotch Couple did not), one would find that they are siblings. However, the sherry in the Kirkland Macallan 18 overwhelms! There is very little else on the palate to balance it. CA Scotch Gent agreed. While he is willing to finish the bottle, the CA Scotch Couple will not be buying another. Too bad. It would have been a good source of whisky for the holidays.

Below please find CA Scotch Chix review of Kirkland Macallan 18.
