Dim Sum Cage Match: Ocean Jewels Seafood v Jade Asian Restaurant

While single malt whisky connoisseurs have the luxury of lining up their libations and making direct comparisons, it isn't often one gets such an opportunity in the restaurant world. Well, Loyal Scotch Chix Fans, your ever loyal CA Scotch Chick has attempted to do just that. On Monday she indulged her palate at the well established Dian Xin (Dim Sum) restaurant Ocean Jewels Seafood, and on Tuesday she scoped out the competition, the new heavy hitter on the Flushing Dim Sum Scene: Jade Asian Restaurant. It's a cage match, Ladies and Gentlemen, and the Scotch Chix have given you a ring side seat.

Just a quick note, since most Dian Xin places are operated by individuals who speak the Cantonese dialect, any pinyin CA Scotch Chick casually tosses around should reflect that pronunciation. However, Mandarin is the language spoken by Wise Woman and mangled by CA Scotch Chick, so that is the dialect she'll be using.

We think that the variety of savory and sweet choices available during Dian Xin call for a savory and sweet scotch. In addition, the dishes have the fortitude to stand up to a medium or heavy scotch. Consequently, for an optimum Dian Xin experience we recommend Highland Park 12 for its buttery but sweet taste and its medium body.

Now, get ready to rumble Ladies and Gentleman.
